Another Soldier Lost
The body of Bombardier Karl Manning Canada's 156th soldier to die in Afghanistan has returned to Canada.
Manning was found dead Friday, May 27 at a forward military outpost in southern Afghanistan. Manning was based at CFB Valcartier, Que. The military is calling his death "non-combat-related wounds" and is also saying that "enemy action or foul play had no role in his death."
Manning joined the Canadian Forces three years ago and deployed to Kandahar on his first foreign tour last December with the 1 Royal 22e Regiment battle group. He was a radar operator with the 5e Regiment d'artillerie legere du Canada, based in Valcartier, Que.
